Passivation of stainless steel is a spontaneous process in nature; after pickling, the steel is automatically able to restore the protective chromium oxide film.
The GULINELLI company, using solutions more oxidising than atmospheric oxygen, supplied by the DELMET company, is able to accelerate this process. Pickling and passivation treatments can be carried out in accordance with ASTM A967 by immersion or spraying.
Particularly suitable on weld-free or previously machine-polished parts, thus preserving the mirror effect of the previous processing.

Treatments for metals such as these are very important because they restore the passivation film that every stainless steel sheet or tube has, by its nature, on its surface.
This natural protective layer can be removed by mechanical treatments, exposure to corrosive environments (sea, spas, swimming pools) or ferrous dust in workshops, and can cause stains and oxide spots (a phenomenon called 'pitting').
